Our monthly Entrepreneurial Leaders and Innovators (ELI) speaker series provides a forum for students to connect with and learn from leaders in tech and venture creation. Past speakers include Evan Spiegel (Founder of Snapchat), Bob Parsons (Founder of GoDaddy), and Andrew Yang (Founder of Venture for America).
With help from our partners in the Yale School of Management, YES has created a thorough workshop series to give undergraduate students experience in areas that they would not normally be exposed to. Past topics have included conducting market research, navigating the legal aspects of incorporation, and fundraising.
For over 10 years, YES has awarded more than $400,000+ to student entrepreneurs through the Yale Venture Challenge, our flagship Spring semester competition. In the Fall, YES also hosts a smaller Elevator Pitch Competition, which is the culmination of our Fall semester Entrepreneurial Bootcamp. Our competitions aim to encourage entrepreneurship in the Yale community and support the growth of startups at Yale.
YES annually hosts a tech trek, YES NY, and a conference, YES Boston. YES NY takes up to 20 top Yale students on tours of companies and startups in New York. Past destinations have included Spotify, Google and LinkedIn. YES Boston, cosponsored by Goodwin Procter LLP, involves an evening networking reception and panel discussion on a trending entrepreneurial topic. Prior themes have included the role of entrepreneurs in healthcare and data science.
Pizza & Pitchers is designed to bring together entrepreneurial-minded students and faculty from different fields across Yale. Attendees are given the chance to discuss and brainstorm ideas for new products with a given topic over pizza and drinks. Potential topics include healthcare, law, financial tech, and big data. Founders and experts in their field are invited to share their experience with students in an informal setting.
